Brimbank City Council is a keen supporter of smart travel options for staff commuting to and from work. One of those options is car-pooling.

Carpool the West is a great initiative allowing staff to connect with colleagues and staff from partnering organisations who may be travelling in a similar distance. It also means we are helping to reduce congestion and CO2 emissions.

Brimbank is only 11 km from Melbourne’s CBD at its closest point, located in the heart of Melbourne’s West, and covering Sunshine, St Albans, Keilor, Deer Park, and Sydenham.

Our municipality is nestled between established inner urban precincts and the outlying western suburbs – the fastest growing urban areas in Australia.

The City of Wyndham is located on the western edge of Melbourne, between the metropolitan area and Geelong. Wyndham covers an area of 542km² and features 27.4 km of coastline bordering Port Phillip to the east. The municipality is situated in one of Australia’s most productive regions, part of the largest area of rich basalt soils on the continent. Wyndham is adjacent to the municipalities of Greater Geelong, Moorabool, Melton, Brimbank and Hobson’s Bay. The majority of residents travel to work by car (66%) and currently 6% of residents carpool to work. By increasing this number we hope to decrease CO2 emissions, reduce road congestion and make our roads safer.
